NRW approves Withyhedge Landfill permit variation

Dauson Environmental Group welcomes Natural Resources Wales' (NRW) approval of an environmental permit variation for Withyhedge Landfill, near Haverfordwest, operated by Group company Resources Management UK Ltd (RML).

Approved on 1 October 2026, the variation introduces stronger environmental controls at the site, including improvements to landfill gas and leachate management, environmental monitoring and landfill cell completion requirements. It also brings existing permit conditions together into a clearer framework for environmental management and regulatory oversight.

The updated permit also allows an additional 50,000 tonnes of suitable waste soil and stone per year to be used in the site's restoration, in accordance with a restoration plan approved by NRW. This supports Dauson's wider approach to making productive use of suitable materials wherever possible.

The decision follows NRW's assessment of technical evidence, environmental risks and responses to public consultation, with the regulator concluding that the application met the requirements of the Environmental Permitting Regulations.

Dauson Environmental Group and RML recognise the concerns of local residents and the importance of being a good neighbour. They remain committed to responsible environmental management, working closely with NRW and building positive, open relationships with the surrounding community.
