Following our previous communication regarding a permit variation submitted to Natural Resources Wales (NRW), we can confirm that the public consultation period has now closed. The business is currently awaiting the outcome of the regulator’s determination and will provide a further update once a decision has been issued.
As previously outlined, the purpose of the permit variation is to strengthen accountability at the site, improve regulatory clarity, and support enhanced oversight of site operations.
In the meantime, operations at RML continue as normal. There have been no changes to service delivery and the site continues to operate strictly in line with pre-agreed arrangements with the regulator. At present, there continues to be no access to third party waste to the site.
The organisation has recently updated its Frequently Asked Questions section to provide additional information on landfill operations and why the continued need for landfill capacity and waste movement across Wales.
RML continues to work closely with NRW to ensure full compliance with environmental obligations. Details of regulatory activity, including site inspections and monitoring, are available on the Natural Resources Wales public register.
In addition, our independent funding for air quality monitoring remains in place to support the understanding and detection of odours in the local area. This monitoring is overseen by public authorities and is not directly controlled by the operator.
RML remains committed to maintaining compliance, transparency, and environmental monitoring in the interest of local residents and the surrounding area.
